Twitter is undergoing a major rebranding exercise. The social media platform will be called "X" and completely rebranded in the days to come. X.com now leads to Twitter, perhaps signalling the death of Twitter as we know it and the creation of an everything app as Elon Musk had envisioned when he bought Twitter last year.
According to Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, Twitter, errr, X, will be "powered by AI" and connect people in ways that "we're just beginning to imagine." "Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square," she wrote on Twitter.
Yaccarino also referred to a number of verticals across which X would operate. "X is the future state of unlimited interactivity ¨C centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking ¨C creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities."
On Sunday, Elon Musk said that the brand's icon blue bird logo would be changed, while teasing a flickering "X" logo. In October 2022, Musk said that the $44 billion Twitter deal was an "accelerant to creating 'X'" - an everything app.

As of now, Twitter still has its classic logo and look. Musk said that whenever a good enough X logo is found, the website will be updated immediately to reflect the changes. For now, the logo below is the chosen one.
What would posts on X be called? In the words of Elon Musk, they would be called "x's" This is a scary shift for people who've religiously used Twitter and enjoy its text-centric vision and simple-to-use direct features.
