An astronomy lab in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr is catching the attention of Twitterati after a budding astronomer shared the images on Twitter. What looks like a science lab in an American school is actually situated in the Bulandshahr district of UP.
According to Aryan Mishra (@desiastronomer on Twitter), a student at Ashoka University, the astronomy lab is part of a government school and is attracting new students.
After the astronomy lab was opened, the school has reportedly seen a 30 per cent increase in student attendance. Mishra also claimed on Twitter that 12 new admissions have been recorded in just one month after the lab opened.
Situated in Sanwli village, the astronomy lab is changing the face of government education in the Bulandshahr district. Mishra claims that the lab's hope is to inspire more women to take up science, benefits of which are already being seen among school kids.
In a video clip shared by Mishra, kids can be seen playing with space models in Sanwli village. This may mark a good start for kids to take education and science seriously in a state with 69.72 per cent literacy rate.
