Corning claims that Gorilla Glass Victus can withstand drops from up to 2 metres on hard surfaces like concrete or rocks. Moreover, it also claims that it is up to four times more scratch-resistant than other aluminosilicate glasses that are being sold in the market.?
According to Thomasnet.com, aluminosilicate glass is a type of glass that contains aluminium oxide, usually at levels between 20 and 40 percent. In features, it＊s not very different from borosilicate glass (used in labware equipment) but has better heat tolerance. The glass when made goes through an ionisation process involving the glass being submerged in a molten salt solution at around 400∼ celsius to make it scratch resistant.?
In this process, it creates an exchange of smaller sodium ions for larger potassium ions. After the glass is cooled down, the large potassium ions squeeze together, making the surface even stronger.?

He further stated, ※In lab tests, Gorilla Glass Victus achieved drop performance up to 2 meters when dropped onto hard, rough surfaces. Competitive aluminosilicate glasses typically fail when dropped from less than 0.8 meters. Gorilla Glass Victus also surpasses Gorilla Glass 6 with up to a 2x improvement in scratch resistance. Additionally, the scratch resistance of Gorilla Glass Victus is up to 4x better than competitive aluminosilicate glasses.§
