With COVID-19 locking us all indoors, people are surely losing their mind, staying locked indoors, with everything outside shut down. People are working from home, even studying from home and this has been overwhelming for many.?
However, for gamers, this is what they were truly dreamt of -- the ability to play games all day without requiring to step outdoors. And it looks like more and more people have made the shift to the fun side.
A recent study by consultancy agency DFC Intelligence has revealed that 40 percent of people on the planet are now regular gamers. This involves over 3.1 billion players across the globe, and in case you didn¡¯t know, that¡¯s a lot!
Asia in total has 1.42 billion paid gamers -- this includes not just India and China but several regions of south-east Asia too. Coming second is Europe with 668 million paying gamers followed by Latin America at 383 million, North America at 261 million.
PC gamers top the charts around the world with a total of 1.5 billion gamers. When looking at the numbers country-wise China tops the list with 300 million users, and India comes second at almost half of it -- around 150 million.
Only 8 percent of the total 3.1 billion gamers around the world comprises of console gamers. But despite that, they¡¯re also the ones who spend the most money on games. Not really surprising considering console games are crazy expensive, to begin with, and exclusive console titles aren¡¯t readily available on PC, so many have to succumb to buying a console to play them.
Amidst the neverending pc-console war, mobile gamers amount to almost half of all video game consumers -- that¡¯s seriously a lot. And it isn¡¯t surprising considering so many people download and play games like PUBG, Fortnite and others without any breaks.?
