Aston Martin is a renowned automobile brand name associated with luxury sports cars carrying high-revving engines in the hood, capable of producing as much as 600 bhp and even more.
But in case you think that would stop the carmaker from going for an all-electric model, you couldn't be more wrong.
The company¡¯s CEO, Andy Palmer recently tweeted about a major milestone for the firm. In the tweet, one of Aston Martin¡¯s upcoming vehicle can be seen driving under its own power, thanks to a breakthrough 800V battery.
The vehicle seen in the video above is a fully electric sedan, Aston Martin¡¯s first ever, and is being called a prototype of the Rapide E. The company claims that the Rapide E aims to retain the ¡°retain and enhance the feel, character and delivery of the V12-engined Rapide S.¡±
The 800V battery backup which will be responsible for a V12 engine like feel is also compatible with DC chargers. The vehicle will come with twin electric motors which will deliver the equivalent of 602 horsepower combined, enough for a top speed of 250 kmph.
No more information about the vehicle has been released by the company as of now. But as can be figured from the video, Aston Martin has reached an impressive milestone in its pursuit for all-electric vehicle offerings. The Rapide E is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

But make no mistake, Aston Martin is not the only one coming up with an all-electric high performance vehicle. Multiple other car makers have announced their foray into an electric super/ sports car and if one was to choose the most anticipated one, Tesla Roadster would certainly rank on the top. To peak this excitement, Elon Musk recently also hinted at a flying capability for the supercar.
Other major firms are also in the race. Audi has announced its PB18 e-tron to rival Tesla¡¯s Roadster. Italian superbike manufacturer ¡®Ducati¡¯ has also announced that its all-electric offerings will be hitting the markets sooner than expected.
