WhatsApp is now working to bring the ability to edit messages on its platform, reveals a leak by popular WhatsApp features tipster WABetaInfo.
The feature was spotted to be in development on the beta version 2.22.22.14 (on Android), where users were getting an option to edit the message apart from the delete option.
Just like the delete option, the message, upon being deleted, gets flagged as ¡®Edited¡¯. Moreover, the option of editing a message is also set on a timer -- a user will only be offered fifteen minutes before they can edit their message.
Moreover, WABetaInfo highlights that just like deleting a message, Whatsapp might not ensure that a message will really be edited if the recipient doesn't turn their device on within a certain amount of time, around a day or a little more.
The feature was only spotted being tested internally, and no beta users have currently gotten their hands on the feature yet. Moreover, this feature is still under testing and there is no particular timeline for its launch or even if we¡¯d ever see this feature to roll out to a final, stable build.
WhatsApp is already pretty late to the party as Telegram already has had this feature for quite some time now.?
This report comes days after previous leaks revealed it to be working on expanding the number of users in a particular group -- taking it from 512 currently, all the way up to 1024. This was spotted on WhatsApp for iOS beta.
Again, the feature was just being internally tested with no timeline for mass release as of yet.
