WhatsApp is currently experimenting with a tool that lets users search for particular text messages based on the date range of their choice. This way, users can quickly search for messages received/sent on a particular date or within a time frame in their WhatsApp chats.
The feature was spotted by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo. "We discovered that WhatsApp is finally rolling out the feature to search for messages by picking a date for WhatsApp Web. Whether they¡¯re looking for a specific conversation from a memorable event or need to retrieve important information from a past date, this enhanced search functionality will definitely simplify the process," WABetaInfo reported.

In the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, a calendar button may be seen while searching for messages in a conversation. This way, users can open a panel to pick a date of their choice to find specific messages shared within that time period.
Currently, the feature is available to a few users enrolled into WhatsApp's official beta programme that provides users early access to beta features. The feature offers several advantages to users as it is able to simplify the process of finding old messages from past conversations - a process that is currently quite tricky. With date-based searching made possible, users would be able to locate messages from a particular date without having to search based on a few words and scrolling endlessly.
As the report claims, this feature would be especially useful in recalling non-text messages like voice notes. As of now, such messages cannot be searched on WhatsApp as the current mechanism requires you to use words to find a text message.

Currently, a few beta testers on the latest WhatsApp Web can access the feature. Remember, if you're not enrolled in WhatsApp's official beta programme, you might not be able to access this feature. Mostly, such features make their way to all users eventually - if they're deemed successful by the company.
