A 31-year old woman from Guangdong Province in South China inserted a spring that she thought would work as an IUD or intrauterine device and prevent her from getting pregnant.
However, it didn't really work (duh) and the spring measuring five centimetres or two inches was later enveloped by her vaginal tissue.

As reported by Unilad, the lady later found out that?she was five months pregnant and she visited the Minzhong Hospital to abort the child. However, when doctors conducted a few tests, they found the spring lodged up in her vagina.?
Since it was enveloped by vaginal tissue, it wouldn't easily come off and she had to go through an emergency surgery, where the doctors had to cut the spring into smaller pieces using pliers and remove each ring one by one. The entire procedure lasted a whole 40 minutes.

According to Dr. Fu Junhong, who treated the lady, "She thought inserting a spring into her body would prevent further pregnancies. She found it on the floor of her workshop. She picked it up, gave it a wash and then inserted it. It is unclear what she does for a living." He further added, "She did by herself about half a year ago. It was greatly unscientific and very unhygienic."
Surprisingly, the 31-year old mother of three didn't suffer any tissue damage or infections. Moreover, she was discharged in a few days. There is no information as of now if she did go ahead with the abortion.?
To the uninitiated, an IUD is a tiny T-shaped plastic and copper device that is inserted into the uterus. The IUD releases copper that causes chemical changes to the cervical mucus that prevents the sperm to reach the egg and avoid pregnancy.

IUD's are inserted by trained-medical professionals only and has a 99 per cent success rate.
Such instances only makes one realise the importance of sex-ed classes in educational curriculum -- something that is not very openly included in Chinese or Indian academics.
