China has, for the past few years, been sitting at the top of the list of the world¡¯s most polluted countries according to the World Health Organisation. Particularly, it¡¯s known for the frequent smog cover enveloping the city of Beijing, greatly reducing visibility and forcing locals to wear masks in order to go about their daily business. Now, the country is on a mission to change all of that.

China is attempting to tackle the situation by making a switch to renewable energy. The government has now announced that its completed the construction of the world¡¯s largest floating solar energy farm, one which has just been brought online.
Chinese energy company Sungrow Power Supply has built a 40-megawatt solar power plant, situated atop a flooded former coal-mining town in the Anhui province of eastern China. ¡°The plant not only makes full use of this area, reducing the demand for lands ¨C but also improves generation due to the cooling effects of the surface,¡± a local government official said.
And that¡¯s just the start of it. Not only is the Chinese government behind a major push to get electric cars on the road, it also plans to increase its use of non-fossil fuels by 20 percent in the next few years and become a major green energy player.?
