Turns out, Elon Musk says he would be "surprised" in case humans aren't landing on "Mars within five years." In conversation with Time Magazine after being named their Person of The Year for the year 2021.
Elon Musk has grand plans for a human colony on Mars, including a self-sustaining city running on solar-powered hydroponic farms to create permanent residencies for human beings. This is the first step in realising Musk's hopes of permanently putting humans on Mars.
Referring to the potential Mars colony, Musk told Time the following - ¡°Sort of like a futuristic Noah¡¯s ark. We¡¯ll bring more than two, though ¡ª it¡¯s a little weird if there¡¯s only two.¡±
