Ever since COVID-19 has been making our lives hell, we all have been desperately waiting for a vaccine to take down the novel coronavirus.?
But this dark phase is almost at its end as the UK, along with other countries like Russia and China have started vaccinating their citizens to safeguard against SARS CoV-2. But it seems like this deadly coronavirus won¡¯t back down without making our lives hell for one last time.
Reported first by Russian news agency TASS, Russian officials have warned their citizens that they need to avoid drinking alcohol for two whole months after getting vaccinated with Sputnik V vaccine. This warning comes from Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova, as he issued guidelines and precautions for people to stay safe until the vaccine gets active in people¡¯s bodies, which can take around 42 days.?
He states, ¡°[Russians] will have to refrain from visiting crowded places, wear face masks, use sanitizers, minimize contacts and refrain from drinking alcohol or taking immunosuppressant drugs.¡±?
This is definitely shocking, especially for citizens in Russia as they¡¯re known to be the fourth largest alcohol consumers in the world, according to the World Health Organisation.?
Sputnik V has been authorized for use starting August and as of now, over 100,000 high-risk people have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, according to Health Minister Mikhail Murashko who revealed this earlier this week during a presentation to the United Nations about Sputnik V.
Authorities have also revealed plans to give priority to doctors and teachers for getting vaccinated since they run the highest risk of exposure to the disease. They plan to vaccinate 2 million people by the end of this year.?
The vaccine has shown the effectiveness of over 90 percent against the novel coronavirus. It is also currently being tested in India, in Kanpur¡¯s Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College after Dr Reddy¡¯s Laboratories received the approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).
Staying sober for two months surely sounds difficult, but is a small price to pay to continue having alcohol your whole life after, right??
