Think of a Covid-19 vaccine that works on all mutants and variants, be it Delta, Omicron or the next worst mutation. Turns out, US Army is set to make our dreams come true.
According to researchers, US Army has created a single vaccine against all Covid-19 and SARS variants. Reported first by Defense One, scientists at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research will officially announce the development of vaccine in the coming weeks.
The army-built vaccine is effective against all strains of coronavirus, even Omicron. In addition, it is effective against SARS-origin viruses happen to be more dangerous than Covid-19 and have higher mortality rates.

Known as Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle Covid-19 vaccine or SpFN, the vaccine's animal trials were completed earlier this year with optimistic results.
Phase-1 of human trials for SpFN ended this month. In conversation with Defense One, Walter Reed's Dr. Kayvon Modjarrad said that the vaccine trials on humans showed positive results.
SpFN employs the power of a soccer ball-like protein with "24 faces". Each face may be equipped with multiple strains of Covid-19 and other related viruses - offering an all-round protection against multiple threats.
The vaccine now has to undergo two more phases of human trials before it is rolled out to people. SpFN was under development for nearly two years and faced some delays because researchers needed people who had neither been vaccinated nor infected with Covid-19, which is hard to find now that countries are rushing to get everyone vaccinated.

The vaccine's regimen and dosage are still unclear. It's not clear whether it's a single dose shot like Johnson & Johnson or a two-dose regimen like Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca.
Regardless, with the looming threat of Omicron variant, countries are taking the idea of booster shots more seriously than ever before.
