COVID-19 has changed so many things in our lives that once felt normal, what we took for granted.?
From not stepping out of our homes without a mask to making handshakes not less than a taboo, we¡¯re all adjusting to a new normal, in this coronavirus world. And now, this has also encroached on people¡¯s sex life.
Researchers at Harvard University have published a sexual health guide for a COVID-19 world, in Annals of Internal Medicine. One of the biggest recommendations they¡¯ve made in this, is that couples who aren¡¯t quarantining together and are still meeting on a regular basis, and being sexually active, should refrain from kissing on the mouth.
While this might make some sense, the next guideline is hilariously absurd (some might even find it kinky) where they¡¯ve asked such a couple to have sex with face masks on, to prevent the contraction of the novel coronavirus.?
Along with this, the guideline also mentions the fact that people should ¡®minimise the number of sexual partners and avoid sex with people who have symptoms that link to COVID-19.?
They also mention that sexual activities involving semen should be avoided, which indicates using a condom.?
The guidelines also state that the couple should shower before and after sex, cleanse with soap or alcohol wipes.?
It also suggested people remain abstinent or masturbate and simulate sexual activity though digital platforms to avoid the risk of contraction (you know what this means).?
Dr, Jack Turban, the study's lead researcher said in a statement (as reported by Business Insider), ¡°For some patients, complete abstinence from in-person sexual activity is not an achievable goal. In these situations, having sex with persons with whom they are self-quarantining is the safest approach.¡±
The study surfaces at a time when the UK has announced new regulations that make it illegal to have sex with a person who doesn¡¯t live under the same roof.
