This man is identified as Amar Debnath, who runs an e-rickshaw. He is affected by polio, Debnath is now visiting families in the Doboka area of Assam¡¯s Nagaon district and giving them food items which he has brought from his own savings.?
Debnath has purchased an e-rickshaw in 2018 by taking a bank loan under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana. When the government announced the 21 days of lockdown to curb the coronavirus outbreak, thousands of people or daily wage workers were staring at the lack of financial resources to buy food.?
Despite being at the red spot and facing a lot of challenges, 40 year old Debnath decided to rise to the challenges and help those in need. He told the media that he was saving money since 2018.?
He further added, ¡°I also stand as a poor man. But I know that many others are still struggling in search of food. I had brought some food items from the market by using my savings and am just trying to help those? people who are in need in my area.¡±
Assam has reported its first coronavirus death on Friday. Whereas India stands at more than 6700 confirmed cases and more than 200 deaths.
