Day after nanny's sexual accusations, Neil Gaiman denies claims; Good Omens author says he's 'far from perfect'

A day later, another allegation of sexual assault was made against bestselling author Neil Gaiman. The novelist has denied allegations of sexual misconduct; he said he never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone, as per reports of a New York Magazine article.?

In July 2024, a podcast investigation by Tortoise Media reported that two women accused Gaiman of sexual assault, reported The Guardian. The report further noted that one of the women alleged that Gaiman had performed sexual acts on her without her consent when she was 22 years old and worked as a nanny for the author's family in New Zealand.?

However, Gaiman completely denies the allegations of any wrongdoing at the time, saying that all of his sexual acts were consensual.?

Neil Gaiman opens up after allegations of sexual assault?

On Tuesday, the American Gods' author, in a blog post, opened up on the allegations put on him. He said he read all the allegations with 'horror and dismay,' and he has kept quiet until now out of respect for both people who were sharing their stories.?

He also maintained his silence because he desired not to draw even more attention to a lot of misinformation spreading around.?

Neil Gaiman went on to say that he has always been a private person, and he felt that social media was the wrong place to talk about important and personal matters.?

He wrote in the blog that he has reached that point where he feels that he should say something. "I'm far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever," he further wrote.?

Neil Gaiman thinks not everyone will believe him?

The author continued to say that he understood that 'not everyone will believe me' and added that he would be doing his best to deserve the trust of his readers again.?

Claiming that some of the allegations never really happened, while others had been 'distorted' to bear no relationship to reality, he is ready to take responsibility for any missteps he made.?

In 2024, five women accused Gaiman of sexual assault and abuse, according to Tortoise Media and The New York Times. Allegations of groping, coercion, and unwanted sexual acts were made against the author.?

While, on the other hand, writer Julia Hobsbawm also publicly accused him of abusive behaviour.?

However, Gaiman has denied all the claims.?
