Elephant Chases A Safari Car At Kabini, Netizens Lauds The “Calm” Driver

Videos of animals chasing humans, cars, everything and anything generally make the rounds on the internet. Some are funny, while others are downright spine chilling, if you imagine yourself in that situation. Currently a video of an elephant, who appears to be agitated, chasing a car on what seems like a safari route is going viral.??

The video shared by twitter user IAS Supriya Sahu garnered almost 240k views on the social platform. With the video, Sahu wrote, “I am told this is in Kabini ! Hats off to the driver deft handling of the situation with a cool mind is commendable. Source- shared by a friend[sis]”

Explaining some similar incidents, other users also came forward with their stories. One user wrote, “I have faced elephant chases many a times...in corbett and Rajaji. Once a pachyderm ran after us for over a kilometre. My little daughter was too scared. One hell of an experience that was.”?

Another user shared their encounter with an angry elephant and shared a video.

A user also recalled a memory of 20 years ago of a similar situation and thanked the “experienced” drivers to get them out of the frenzy.?

The tweet however is going viral in praises for the driver, who kept calm in a rather terrifying situation, all while driving the car in reverse and keeping the car at a safe distance from the elephant.?

A user applauded the driver’s presence of mind and wrote, “He controlled the speed enough to tire the elephant out. He didn’t accelerate as he will loose [sis] control. Shows great experience and presence of mind.”

?Another user wrote, “Seriously the driver deserve (claps) for his calm and composure."?

?A user also made an observation that the driver was focusing on the driving and not on the elephant, which is why he was saved. He wrote, “Couldn't leave commenting on the driver, he is so concentrated on the right mirror, had he once stare at the elephant, there won't be this video.”?
