As the cold wave continues to sweep most of North India, heavy snowfall has thrown life off the rails in Kashmir where three houses collapsed in Anantnag district, as per reports.?
The houses reportedly collapsed on Wednesday morning, as the valley remained cut off from the rest of the country. One of the houses that caved in was caught on camera.
The air traffic as well as the national highway has been shut for few days now, with inclement weather continuing to make life difficult.?
Air traffic to and from Srinagar remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday over poor visibility, due to heavy snowfall hampering flight operations. This led to cancellation of over a dozen flights to Kashmir.??
The Srinagar administration issued an advisory to the people in Kashmir asking locals to only commute only if it is extremely necessary. People have been advised to avoid using private vehicles as continuous snowfall has resulted in roads being blocked across the city.

Officials said while the snow clearance operations were in full swing, the runway was not available for flight operations due to continuous heavy snow and low visibility.
The areas in south Kashmir, followed by central, received heavy snowfall compared to the areas in the north of the valley.?
Srinagar city has witnessed heavy snowfall for the past three days, even as the snow clearance operations have been ongoing along inter-district routes as well as major roads linking tehsil headquarters to district headquarters.
While the administration has ensured that most of the essential services were least affected, the heavy snowfall has resulted in snapping of electricity lines in many areas across the valley.?
However, the MET Office has said the weather is likely to improve Wednesday onwards.
