Getting struck by lightning might sound like an impossible phenomenon but it is more common than you think! A terrifying incident from Massachusetts, U.S., has come to 'light' where the roof of a house was struck by lightning.??
A video of the rare phenomenon was shared on Twitter with the caption, "Family escapes after Danvers home hit by lightning; bolt caught on camera by neighbour¡¯s cell phones."
According to reports, the video was taken by 14-year-old Joshua Pabisz who lives several hundred feet away from the house where the lightning struck.?
¡°So I was actually in bed I was watching a movie,¡± said Jessica Cross, who is one of the four residents of the targeted house. ¡°I heard a big bang.¡±??
¡°Shook the whole house,¡± said Mike Cross. He ran outside to see what happened and saw smoke coming from the roof.??
¡°It was scary,¡± he said. ¡°Especially when you¡¯re sitting in the living room and all of a sudden you see a loud flash.¡±
¡°It just was like blinding,¡± said Michelle Pabisz. ¡°So bright and we just screamed and ran inside.¡±?
The house suffered extensive damage because of the lightning and all three bedrooms have smoke, flame and water damage. ??
¡°It¡¯s surreal,¡± said Jessica. ¡°I think I¡¯m going to worry when there¡¯s storms now.¡±
Fortunately, no member of the Cross family was hurt in the process.? ?
The Danvers Fire Department was called around 11 p.m. for a report of a possible lightning strike, and there was smoke inside the home when officials arrived on scene. Fire officials said the lightning strike "most likely" caused the fire.??
