The footage shows the moment a car is struck by lightning in the middle of a storm in the midwestern state of Iowa, USA.Storm chaser Christopher Riske was driving in Gilmore, Iowa on April 12 when he just ¡°happened to be recording¡± as a bolt of lightning struck his friend¡¯s Toyota Prius.?
He posted the video on Youtube and called it a ¡°once-in-a-life-time¡± shot. Riske added that his friend More Pi¡¯s car was immobilised and ¡°is still being worked on¡±.He wrote, ¡°It totally fried the Prius. He is currently stuck in Iowa. The car might be totaled.¡±
Pi was driving the Prius around while still inside it when the bolt struck. The moment was so quick that if someone blinked, they would miss the whole experience?of the thunderbolt hitting the rear window of the car.?
The video shows the astonishing moment in the original speed, and?at 1/5th and 1/20th of normal speed.Sparks can be seen far more clearly dancing underneath the car right after lightning makes contact.
It was one of the 10 tornadoes that ripped through the state of Iowa on Tuesday alone. Several other storms have been recorded from the southern state of Texas through to Nebraska in the midwest as severe weather continues to spread through central US.
