A man had a close shave with death when a?shark?leapt out of the water and bit off part of his foot while he was parasailing in the Red Sea.?
In the clip, a paraglider from Jordan can be seen enjoying himself hovering above the water. All seems to be going well until a shark suddenly emerges out from the sea and takes a large bite of his foot, attempting to drag the man under.
As per various reports, he lost the back part of his foot as well as several tendons and was left with torn muscles and broken bones after the horror attack.
He?was rushed to the Prince Hashem Military Hospital,?in the port city,?by emergency services, where he had an operation on his right foot. His condition was described as stable.
Mohammed Khalil Al Zabada from the College of Marine Sciences told Gulf News?that the presence of sharks near the shores of Aqaba is very rare.
¡°Sharks are found in all the seas of the world, and in the Red Sea there are many types of sharks, but their presence in the Aqaba region is very rare,"?Al Zabada said.?
He indicated that sharks do not usually approach shores but are found in deep areas of the sea.
Meanwhile, Nayef Al Bakhit, head of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, announced that a committee was formed to investigate information circulating about citizens being attacked by a shark in Aqaba Friday evening.
¡°The committee will issue a detailed statement about what happened as soon as they complete the investigation,¡± Al Bakhit emphasised.
