The world of internet is full of videos of animals and this footage filmed inside?Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan shows the shocking moment a tigress attacked a stray dog?in front of tourists.
The big cat was identified as Sultana who is a famous tigress from the national park.
The video capturing the horrifying incident was shared on Twitter and also on the YouTube channel of Ranthambore National Park.
The bone-chilling incident took place on the morning of 27 December when tourists were in Zone 1 of the national park.
The video begins with a shot of the stray dog roaming near two tourist vehicles. Just as the dog is about to make his way towards the second car, an aggressive tigress emerges from the right side and pounces on the poor animal before dragging it to the bushes.
"Pakad lia, peeche kar le, peeche kar le?(it caught the dog, reverse the vehicle)," people are heard saying in the background.
The clip started a conversation among animal enthusiasts about tigers exposing themselves to canine distemper by attacking stray dogs.?
Anish Andheria, President of the Wildlife Conservation Trust, shared the clip and wrote that the attack could've exposed the tiger to canine distemper that can to 'decimate a tiger population'. He even tagged Indian Forest Service official, Praveen Kawan, in the tweet.
"Tiger kills dog inside R'bhore. In doing so it is exposing itself to deadly diseases such as canine distemper that can decimate a tiger population in no time. Dogs have emerged as a big threat to wildlife. Their presence inside sanctuaries needs to be controlled @ParveenKaswan," tweeted Andheria.
"There are severe regulations on tourism because that too can disturb wildlife. Dogs are not at fault, humans are. However, we have only 600 Asiatic lions & 3000 tigers compared to millions of domestic owner-less dogs. The worry is about pushing endangered fauna towards extinction," he wrote in another tweet.
This video comes just a few days after a terrifying video showing a leopard attacking a pet dog inside a house went viral. The clip showed the leopard hopping over the gate of the house, grabbing the pet dog and leaving.?
