The underwater volcanic eruption has hit the Pacific country of Tonga triggering Tsunami waves in the ocean, the image of which has been captured through satellite.
Images and videos posted to social media show large waves washing ashore in coastal areas. Tonga's capital lies just 65km north of the volcano.
The metrological service had alerted the region of the brewing volcano and had advised locals to reach safer areas.?

The eight-minute eruption was so violent it could be heard as "loud thunder sounds" in Fiji, more than 800km (500 miles) away, according to officials in the capital Suva.

The Guardian quoted the local news site Matangi Tonga reporting the satellite images showed a 5km (3 mile) wide plume of ash, steam and gas rising up into the air to about 20km (12 miles).?
Various weather agencies across the globe are keeping a close watch as the matter develops. BBC in its report on the live matter mentioned the local forecaster Weather Watch tweet: "The energy release is simply astonishing.
New Zealand, which is more than 2,300km away, reported of people hearing the sonic booms across the country. National Emergency Management Agency said coastal areas on the north and east coast of the North Island could see "strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore".
