The heartwarming story came to everyone's attention after a man shared it on a private Facebook group ¡®Canton Neighbours¡¯ that every time his mother-in-law would visit Baltimore, Ekiben was the first place she wanted to go to eat, particularly her favourite dish - Tempura Broccoli.
He adds, "She always joked that when she's on her death bed that if there's anything in the world, she wants tempura broccoli from Ekiben."

As he was gearing up to travel to Vermont with his family to be with her, he approached the restaurant and asked if there is a recipe or any other way to carry this dish with them. The drive was to be six hours long.?
The response he got was definitely not what he was expecting. Steve Chu, restaurant co-owner replied,? ¡°Thanks for reaching out,¡± he wrote. ¡°We¡¯d like to meet you in Vermont and make it fresh for you.¡±

For the restaurant's co-owner Steve Chu, fulfilling the wish of a 72-year-old customer struggling with late-stage cancer seemed like the right thing to do. They not only granted the wish of the ailing mother, but also refused to take money.?
What a great gesture! There is so much we can do with love and compassion, this is one great example.?
