A shocking incident has come to light from Tamil Nadu¡¯s Tirupur district, where a 35-year-old burglar approached a couple by falsely disguising himself as a priest. He then hacked the two with a sickle in order to steal their valuables, reported Mirror Now. The woman died in the attack, while her husband has sustained multiple injuries, police said.
According to the report, the couple ¨C Aarumugam (65) and his wife A Eswari (55) ¨C owned a furniture shop near their house in Vellakoil town of the district.?

Sakthivel, who resides in the same locality, introduced himself as a priest to the couple. He conducted a puja at the couple¡¯s house on Tuesday and later he convinced them to get a puja performed by him at their furniture shop. The next morning, when the trio got to the furniture shop, Sakthivel attacked the couple with a sickle and fled with Rs 10,000 in cash and Eswari¡¯s gold mangalsutra.
¡°He offered to perform parihara puja, and the couple agreed. He performed the puja at their house on Tuesday night and made them agree to conduct a similar puja at their furniture shop. The couple subsequently decided to conduct the ritual at the shop on Wednesday,¡± a report by?The Times of India?quoted an investigating officer as saying.

The couple reportedly reached the furniture shop for performing the puja. Suddenly, Sakthivel attacked them with a sickle, killing Eswari on the spot and injuring Aarumugam, and then stole their valuables.
Police came rushing to the spot after being alerted by Aarumugam. They took him to a government hospital for treatment. He is said to be in a stable condition.
A case has been registered against Sakthivel under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 397 (robbery) and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery). He is absconding and efforts are being made to nab him. Inquiries have revealed that he already has several criminal cases registered against him.
