A student in the US state of Kentucky had a bizarre request to make to his teacher and he wrote it on his answer sheet.?
The student who scored a straight A+ asked the teacher to transfer his bonus points to a student who needed it the most, a student who had scored the lowest.?Touched by his request, the Kentucky teacher decided to share the kid's act of kindness on Facebook.?
¡°He didn¡¯t care if he considered them a friend, didn¡¯t care if they were cool, didn¡¯t matter to him what situation had caused them to score lower, he just wanted to help, be kind, commit a loving act,¡± the teacher said, adding that a bonus point would have bumped his score to 99.
According to reports, this is the first time he has received such a warm request from an 11th grader however, he was not surprised.?Speaking to reporters he said, "He is the type of kid that would often show compassion in the classroom."
Lee also said that the female student who received the bonus point from him was very "thankful" although she didn't know who actually gave it to her!?
¡°Most honor students cling to every point possible! How can he be willing to give up his earning,¡± Winston Lee wrote in a blog post, adding that many students in the school come from low income households and often face difficult circumstances, but they ¡°never cease to amaze.¡± Touched by the class XI student¡¯s gesture, the teacher wrote, ¡°Oddly enough, I was the one taught a lesson that day.¡±? ??
In his Facebook post, the teacher urged everyone to be a little more like this young man, as this gave him "a lot of hope."??
While many people praised the hardworking student for his generosity, others said it was unfair for the low scoring student to get marks for free. One user wrote, 'That's pretty dumb on that kid's part. 5 points could be meaningless to someone only scoring a 35%. Give those points to students very close to making the next letter grade. Let the class slacker deal with it on their own.'
Another user slammed the negative comments on the post saying, 'How has our society taken a nice, warm post about compassion, and turned it into a cesspool of hatred, fighting, and anger??If this post restores your faith, the comments section here will surely destroy it !'
Do you think the teacher made the right choice??
