Elephants, on many occasions, have manifested human-like feelings. Be it mourning the death of a member of the herd, or protecting their calves. Elephants have proved to be one of the most emotional creatures in the animal kingdom.
More recently, a mother pachyderm avenged the death of its little one by uprooting a transformer pole at an agriculture land in Tamil Nadu's Chittoor district.?

According to a Hindu report,?the incident took place in a field of Gobbilla Kotur village adjoining the Koundinya wildlife sanctuary, in the wee hours of Sunday.
The report states that the mother and calf strayed away into the area inhabited by humans and that's where they encountered the fateful live wire.
By then, curious villagers and forest officials had thronged the site which forced the pachyderm to disappear into the forest, leaving her dead calf all alone.
By Sunday evening, the Hindu reports states that, the forest range officials took the elephant calf¡¯s body for post-mortem and buried it with a traditional puja.
Given the history of elephant behaviour, the forest officials of Palamaner range predicted, that the angry mother would come back to the village looking for her calf, and attack the pole that killed it.
Just as the officials predicted, the elephant came back with vengeance on Monday morning, and yanked the dead transformer pole and cables off the ground.
Shocked locals and forest officials rushed to witness the mourning mother elephant¡¯s rage, where she went to destroy other transformer poles, whose power supply was thankfully cut off.
¡°This episode proves that elephants are not only wise, but they love their family and children and their emotions are immeasurable,¡± Forest Range Officer (Palamaner) Madan Mohan Reddy told the Hindu.
¡°Fortunately, we could guess what could happen in the next 24 hours. Luckily, we had stopped power supply at the location, avoiding further tragedy. Power supply would be stopped for another couple of days in the area.¡±
