Imagine losing your daughter when your whole family has gathered together to celebrate a festival - this is how Bihar felt when the unfortunate news of Sharda Sinha¡¯s demise arrived. Aligning with the biggest regional festival Chhath 2024, Bihar lost its Kokila whom they fondly called ¡®Bahu-bitiya¡¯ on November 5. Here¡¯s a quick look at how the singer¡¯s home state is mourning her loss.
According to Hindu traditions, the stoves are not lit up (food will not be cooked at home) till the time the deceased¡¯s body is cremated and no good work is done. That¡¯s how the village named Sihma (Begusarai) has decided to call off the Chhath festivities for their daughter-in-law. Over 350+ houses have decided to mourn the loss of their Bahu by fasting and not being part of any happy event during this time.
The folk singer was an emotion to Bihar more than a human. While people cannot stop tearing up knowing she is no more, some artists have used their art to express their love for Sharda Sinha. A picture is going viral on the internet where a sand artist named Ashok carved an image of Sinha on sand in Bihar¡¯s Chhapra and it will only make you tear up more. Have a look:-

While on the one side, she will meet the soil while on the other side, devotees will give arghya to the sun - a coincidence that is both happy and sad at the same time.
