And his 'quirkiness' extends to his lifestyle as well, as the Amazon founder pushed his body to the limits in the name of success.??
Anne Hiatt who was the CEO's executive assistant from 2002 to 2005 and was tasked with keeping his professional life in order has something interesting to tell about Bezos.?
Amazon's office was on the 14th floor at the time and Hiatt recalls that Bezos would refuse to take the lift. Instead, he always insisted on running up and down the steps without breaking a sweat.
Hiatt said, "He's like a puppy. He would do laps and he was never tired.?That's Jeff. He couldn't be held back."?
However, Bezos' time as the Amazon head came to an end on July 5 2021.
His last is memorable as that's the same day when Bezos launched Amazon as an online bookstore back in 1994. Now, twenty-seven years later, he is the top dog of consumerism.?
He will now retire with his wealth valued at around $197 billion. Insider reports Bezos' fortune is 739,489 times the median net worth of an American at the age of 65. He also has more money than the GDP of many countries.Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon Web Services, will take over as head of the whole company.?
Bezos wants to explore other passions in life.?In a letter to employees, Bezos said: "In the Exec Chair role, I intend to focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives. Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence."?
He wrote, "Today, we employ 1.3 million talented, dedicated people, serve hundreds of millions of customers and businesses, and are widely recognized as one of the most successful companies in the world."?
Bezos said he was 'excited about this change in life."I've never had more energy, and this isn't about retiring. I'm super passionate about the impact I think these organizations can have," he added.??
