Sci-fi Dreams Come True: Man Captures Moment When A SpaceX Rocket Breaks Apart In Earth's Atmosphere

What would happen if, on a normal day walking around your neighbourhood, you could witness something literally out of this world? Well, anyone would logically whip out their phones to capture the moment. Ches Allen, a real estate agent, witnessed a moment that could only be described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Allen captured a video of the moment he became a witness to a SpaceX rocket busting into the Earth’s atmosphere. The rocket apparently didn’t get to complete its de-orbit burn after it had accomplished its job of putting satellites in orbit. That’s when Allen, the realtor who was going about his day, saw the stars falling.

He captured the moment and put it up on Twitter, which then obviously went viral. Although the moment in itself is magical enough to shake a person, what happened next was even more exciting.

In his viral video on Twitter, Allen got tackled by hundreds in his DMs, but it was one guy named Roman who made all the difference. Roman was a financial advisor from the Bay Area who was looking to partner with a realtor and wanted to exchange referrals.?

Almost two years later, this partnership has given space for new developments in the real estate business in Oregon. He shared in a post looking back on the day he posted the video, "2 years ago I stepped outside on a mild Oregon?evening and looked up to see the most unbelievable thing I had ever witnessed."

Allen added, "Almost 2 years later, the quintessential SE Portland craftsman in the second slide now belongs to Katz and Hayley, Roman’s best friends and brand new Oregonians!" It turns out that even though the sparks of light in the sky had nothing to do with magic, they ended up being a miracle.

The Story Behind The Space Debris

The debris likely belonged to the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which busted over the skies of Oregon back in 2021 and confused many stargazers who thought the spectacular blast that lit the night was a meteor shower or something galactic of sorts.??

James Davenport, an astronomer from the University of Washington, explained, “This was the top end, what we call the second stage, of a Falcon 9 rocket. It was actually launched about three weeks ago and it did exactly what it was supposed to do: it put satellites in orbit.”

He continued, “The only failure it had was it didn’t complete its de-orbit burn, so it didn’t come down when and where we expected it. It’s just been waiting to fall for the last three weeks and we got lucky and it came right over head.”
