A mother's savior instinct for her kids is supremely powerful and sometimes defies all logic of space and time. ?A 25-year-old woman from a Madhya Pradesh village displayed incredible courage by protecting her 15-month-old son from a tiger's jaws.
The two are currently receiving medical attention in a hospital for the injuries they sustained during the incident on Sunday morning in Rohania village in Umaria district's Mala beat of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
The woman, later identified as Archana Choudhary, alleged that she had taken her son Raviraj to a field to use the bathroom when the tiger attacked and grabbed him by the jaws.
Choudhary claimed that she never quit trying to save her child. She also raised the alarm, and a few villagers eventually arrived. The villagers chased the carnivore away, who finally left the child as it disappeared into the forest.
Choudhary's husband, Bhola Prasad, said his wife received waist, hand, and back injuries, and their son was hurt in the head and back.
After the attack, the woman and her son were immediately taken to a health center in Manpur and later to the district hospital in Umaria for treatment, forest guard Ram Singh Marko said.
He said a forest department team was trying to track the tiger that attacked the child and his mother.
Umaria Collector Sanjeev Shrivastava met the woman and her son in the district hospital.
He said the two had been referred to a hospital in Jabalpur for further treatment.
District officials said they are trying to trace the tiger and would take steps to ensure the safety of people living in forest areas.?The collector also said he would meet with the forest department officials to ensure the safety of villagers residing in forest areas.
