The incident took place in Staten Island, New York when crooks?broke into a man's home and grabbed a set of car keys which belonged to a 2017 Rolls-Royce Dawn sedan.,?New York Post, citing New York Police Department, reported.?
The owner of the house, identified only as John, was awoken by an alarm and caught a glimpse of the thieves speeding off in his Rolls-Royce Dawn sedan convertible.?
¡°I was downstairs within seconds while they were pulling out of the driveway,¡± John told?the Staten Island Advance.
After making sure his family was safe, he logged onto a computer and used the luxury car's built-in tracking device to locate the vehicle in real-time as the thieves drove toward New Jersey.??
He then made good use of the technology - activating the car's remote kill switch, which is used to disable the vehicle¡¯s ignition from any location. This meant that thieves were left stranded as the car stopped working.?
¡°They were attempting to turn [the car] back on, but they couldn¡¯t because I disabled it,¡± John said.
He then pinpointed the specific block where the thieves ditched the car and picked it up.?
