During a sensitive time like this, it is important to thank each and every person out there who is putting his/her life at risk to serve others. Among them is a nurse in Karnataka, who is showing up to work each and every day, despite being nine months pregnant.?
According to ANI, Roopa Praveen Rao is a nurse at a hospital in Karnataka's Shivamogga and she continues to tend to patients amid the ongoing Covid-19 crisis which has affected over 200 countries across the globe. Rao believes that it is her duty to tend to the patients that need her and being pregnant should not stop her from doing so.?
Rao hails from Gajanuru village and travels to Thirthahalli taluk every day to work at Jayachamarajendra Government Hospital. She told ANI, "The taluk hospital is surrounded by many villages, people need our service. My seniors had asked me to take leave but I want to serve people. I work six hours a day."?
She also said that Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yediyurappa, personally called her and praised her dedication and advised her to take rest. However, she wants to keep serving the patients till she can and fulfill her duties.?
Today being International Nurses Day, each and every nurse out there deserves a salute for their selfless service to the people and how they have managed to keep the healthcare system from crumbling.?
