A pastry chef was arrested in Egypt after she supplied some controversial cupcakes with penis decorations, for a party.?
According to reports, the chef was detained at her home in Cairo after some woman partygoers at the Gezira sports club shared photos of the cupcakes on social media.?
The photos were shared online and received huge backlash with state-owned newspaper Al Ahram describing them as 'indecent and immoral shapes'.?
The issue escalated when Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt's minister for youth and sports, said his department would form a committee to investigate the incident, reported Metro UK.?
The chef was left in tears when she arrived for questioning with prosecutors and was questioned for hours and later released on bail of??233 (Rs?23,251).
The chef told interrogators that she designed the cupcakes after some women came into her shop and handed her pictures of genitals and asked her to make cakes in that shape.?
¡°Came to my shop and handed me pictures of genitals, and asked me for cakes in these forms,¡± the female chef told her interrogators.?
"[The incident] emphasises that a group in society, with the support of the state, wants to eliminate any space for personal freedoms in Egypt under the pretext of preserving the values of the Egyptian family," a Human Rights activist lawyer tweeted.?

The incident has raised several questions about laws in Egypt and whether they seem to often target women.
