It was an auspicious day in Kasargod when Rajeshwari from Shameem Manzil married Kanhangad native, Vishnu Prasad, at a Bhagavati temple.?
Her foster parents Abdulla and Khadeeja made sure that her wedding took place according to proper Hindu rituals.
Rajeshwari is a native of Tanjore, and the wedding sent out a message of communal harmony as a Hindu girl was married off with proper Hindu tradition by a Muslim couple.?
Rajeshwari¡¯s relatives from the Muslim community were also invited to the temple for the wedding.
¡°She was about 7 or 8 years old when she arrived at our home for the first time. After the death of her parents, she never went to her native place in Tanjore. Now, she is 22 years old,¡± a website quoted Abdulla, Rajeshwari¡¯s foster father as saying.?
Rajeshwari¡¯s parents passed away when she was a child. Her father Saravanan worked as a coolie at Kasaragod and Melparambu. He worked regularly at Abdulla¡¯s residence and farmland at Kunnariyam. Hence, he was close to the family and so was Rajeshwari from her childhood. She grew up as a sister to Abdulla¡¯s three sons Shameem, Najeeb and Shereef.
According to the report, Abdulla and his family visited Vishnu¡¯s house after he proposed to Rajeshwari.?
Vishnu¡¯s family requested that the wedding be carried out at a temple and both the families agreed on Manyottu temple in Kanhangad where entry of people from all religions is allowed.
On Sunday morning, both families, including his 84-year-old mother Safiyumma, arrived at the temple for the wedding.
