Setting An Example Of Communal Harmony, Kerala Mosque Hosts Wedding For A Hindu Couple

In the currently polar environment of the country, an example of communal amity has emerged from Kerala where a Mosque hosted a wedding for a Hindu couple.
Anju and Ashokan tied the knot amidst the crowded premises of Cheravally Muslim Jamath mosque. The marriage took place according to Hindu tradition and practices. The bride looked gorgeous in a pink and gold sari, while the groom was clad in a white shirt and mundu. A ceremonial tent was set up in the premises of the mosque for guests and a vegetarian sadya was arranged.
The couple tied the knot on January 19. Anju¡¯s mother Bindu had been struggling financially since the death of her husband two years ago. While she struggled to save money for Anju¡¯s wedding, her neighbor who is a Jamaath secretary, suggested she approach the Jamaath committee. She did exactly that and found that Hammath committee was willing to help. According to a PTI report- one member even offered to take care of the wedding expenses.
"The mosque committee will gift 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs two lakh to Anju as a wedding gift. The marriage will take place according to the Hindu rituals. We have also arranged food for around 1,000 people," PTI quoted secretary of Cheruvally Jamaat committee Nujumudeen Alummoottil as saying.
"I've personally helped their younger child study. This time, the request was given to the mosque committee as the expenses for a marriage are quite high. So, the committee decided to assist the family," Nujumudeen further said.
This is really a heartwarming incident, that goes beyond the bounds of religion.
