South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun finally broke his silence about dating Kim Sae Ron following accusations of grooming from the late actress's family. At his press meet on Monday (March 31), Kim Soo Hyun apologised for the controversy surrounding his relationship with Kim Sae Ron and addressed allegations of his agency's attempted extortion following her DUI accident. The Queen of Tears star was visibly emotional throughout the press conference, breaking down in tears and struggling to compose himself as he spoke.
Kim Soo Hyun's press meet had been at the centre of controversy ever since his agency Gold Medalist's announcement on March 30 due to its 'half-baked' format. The session was held in a packed room with reporters present solely to listen, with no opportunity to ask questions, and instead only reported on the statements made by the actor and his lawyer.
Despite the pre-assigned format, a brave female reporter tried to ask the 37-year-old actor a question about Kim Sae Ron, but the actor appeared to ignore her, showing no regard for the query. His actions have ignited fresh criticism, with netizens calling out the actor on social media.
Defying the no-questions rule, a bold reporter shouted out to Kim Soo Hyun as he concluded his statement, pressing him for details about his relationship with Kim Sae Ron. "When and where did you first meet Kim Sae Ron?" she asked, adding, "Just that, please tell me."
Despite the reporter's loud voice amidst the camera flashes, Kim Soo Hyun chose to ignore her. He was then seen walking off the stage, looking tearful, before exiting the room with his lawyer, who offered him comfort with pats on the back.
Kim Soo Hyun is facing backlash from fans and netizens for ignoring the female reporter's question during his press meet.
One user wrote, "I was really waiting to see if he'd answer the questions; obviously he was triggered by it... that's a guilty man's behaviour."
Another user wrote, "That reporter definitely wants justice to be served, and he couldn't even answer this time. I was expecting him to play the denial game."
?A third slammed him for crying, writing, "Ok, king of fake tears! Pack it up; we can see that you're acting."
"Loser behaviour. This guy doesn¡¯t even have the balls to face questions and has the nerve to hold a press conference. If you still believe this guy is innocent, then it¡¯s a YOU problem," a fourth penned.
