Liam Payne was laid to rest last week in his native Southeast England in a private service, surrounded by loved ones, family, and close friends who came to celebrate his life and legacy. Notably absent, however, was Roger Nores, Payne's longtime friend and alleged manager, who was reportedly barred from attending due to pending charges of abandonment. In a fresh development, prosecutors have now detailed Payne's final moments, highlighting Nores' involvement.
Nores, who was also Payne's plus at Niall Horan's concert, was spotted with the former One Direction member in Argentina on many occasions before his tragic death on October 16. According to the fresh documents filed by the Argentinian prosecutor involved in the case, the singer texted his friend about obtaining escorts and drugs before his fatal fall from a Buenos Aires balcony.
The documents, obtained by TMZ, reveal that Nores, an Argentinian businessman, checked on Payne thrice on the day he died. Payne reportedly texted him around 7 AM on October 16, informing him about getting involved with hookers. After nearly 90 minutes, he requested '6 grams (of cocaine)'.?The 1D alum also requested 'another 7 grams for today' from a hotel worker at about 2 PM, the publication reported.?
Eyewitnesses had earlier confirmed Payne was in the company of two escort workers hours before his death. He reportedly also got into a scuffle with one of them in the hotel balcony over non-payment of dues.
Nores reportedly came around 3:45 PM to pay the escorts at which point he alleges Liam was 'perfectly sober'. However, the sex workers claimed otherwise, alleging the singer punched the television screen several times while asking them for substances as he wasn't left with any.
Hotel employees also testified that they found the 31-year-old 'visibly drunk' with dilated pupils and heard him breaking things in the room, following which they tried to reach out to Nores but to no avail.
Roger Nores, founder of Stoneway Capital, is one of three charged with abandonment of a person followed by death. A judge has now ruled it must be handled by local prosecutors, who have yet to file such charges.?Other than the businessman, a hotel staff and an alleged drug peddler are facing the charges of abandonment.
