MBC's latest hit K-drama, When the Phone Rings, is testing fans' patience and how! While the drama heads are still not over last week's heartbreak when the Broadcast Network decided to postpone episodes 5 and 6 of the Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin starrer last minute, they must brace themselves for yet another week of agony. Rumour has it that the upcoming episodes of this addictive K-drama might face yet another delay.
Last week, fans of K-drama woke up thinking 'Thank God It's Friday' as they awaited new episodes of When the Phone Rings. But, in a shocking twist, the broadcast was abruptly cancelled, leaving viewers stunned and disappointed.
According to reports, the broadcast was postponed due to the recent impeachment vote of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, which took place last Saturday.?
Just hours ahead of the scheduled release, MBC released a statement announcing that both episodes 5 and 6 would be cancelled for that week.?The Broadcast Network explained that the K-drama's time slot would be temporarily preempted to accommodate special reports.
South Korea's ongoing political turmoil may once again end up disrupting the schedule for the Park Sang Woo directorial. With a new impeachment vote set for December 14 (Saturday), episodes 5 and 6, previously rescheduled for December 13 and 14, may be postponed again.
According to some reports, the makers may air both episodes on December 13 (Friday). However, fans will have to wait and see if the show will stick to its revised schedule, given the ongoing political uncertainty in the country.
The possible delay has now sparked fierce criticism from the K-drama community, with one user writing, "This is how you make the audience lose interest."
Another fan enquired, "Is every drama on air same slot facing the same problem or is it just with MBC? Because if it's a national problem then no other channels would be broadcasting anything else that day on that slot.??Just curious."
A third fan wrote, "I think they will still release episode 5 on Friday, and Saturday was scheduled to not show wtpr from the beginning but instead be another show by a Nobel Prize-winning writer."
"The show is globally popular and now they're literally Killing the fun so people will just stop watching ATP. I feel bad for casts and staff who worked so hard," a fourth user added.
The thrilling K-drama revolves around Baek Sae On (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple in a marriage of convenience. Their lives take a dramatic turn when Hee Joo is kidnapped, and Sae On starts receiving mysterious phone calls.?Normally, new episodes air every Friday and Saturday. International viewers can catch the show on Netflix.?
