NewJeans fans take legal action against HYBE, Dispatch
NewJeans fans, Bunnies, have filed a criminal complaint against Dispatch, HYBE, and Source Music, alleging the three parties illegally obtained the group's pictures through stalking.
OPES, the legal firm representing Bunnies, filed a complaint to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, citing violation of the Personal Information Protection Act and violating the Information and Communication Network Act.
The complaint stated, "Although HYBE is the parent company of ADOR, it cannot illegally collect and leak personal information about the CEO and artists of its subsidiaries or leak confidential information acquired for business to a third party, and this is the same for Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE. In addition, internet creators who have illegally received the personal information collected and leaked as above, have been creating content and spreading malicious comments about NewJens, are making the damage worse, greatly undermining NewJeansˇŻ reputation.ˇ±
The Dispatch expose claimed that Min Hee Jin 'instructed' NewJeans to hold a live stream in September to demand her reinstatement as the ADOR CEO. The report also claimed that group member Hyein's uncle was a candidate for the position of internal director who intended to seek investments for the group.??
The report also provided screenshots of Min's messages, sending shockwaves across the K-pop community. One of the messages had her calling the rookie group 'naive kids,' while in another, she said, "LOL. What would they know? It gives me a reality check when I see how they are only thinking of dancing while looking in the mirror. Is this what they call working."
In addition, the outlet also published pictures of Hanni meeting her former CEO before her National Assembly appearance. The group had earlier denied Min Hee Jin's involvement in their activities.
