While most of us struggled to memorise those boring chapters from our textbooks, there were some geniuses who are gifted with immense knowledge.?
With their hard work and dedication, these gifted children tend to make it big in the field of education at an early age and then make their parents proud. Thirteen-year-old Elliot Tanner is a genius who is set to become the youngest to graduate from?the University of Minnesota.?
He is set to graduate with a bachelor¡¯s degree in physics in May. The impressive thing here is that he was able to maintain a 3.78 average during his undergraduate research.
¡°I have an incredible passion for physics,¡± he said. ¡°It¡¯s been one of my favourite things to do.¡±
Michelle Tanner, Elliott¡¯s mom said,?¡°He had started reading when he was maybe 2, just 3. We said, ¡®Oh, well, that¡¯s interesting. You¡¯re reading. We didn¡¯t teach you to read." He was homeschooled in the begging then he went to college at the age of 9.?Two years later, he graduated with an associate of science degree from Normandale Community College.?
¡°It¡¯s amazing. It¡¯s sort of been a crazy ride getting here, but it¡¯s just been such a nice experience,¡± Elliott said.
His mother, Michelle Tanner, said her son was able to do math problems since the age of three."People who hear Elliott¡¯s story say he doesn¡¯t get to be a kid, or he grew up too fast. He still very much is a kid and the only difference is he goes to school in a different building," said Michelle Tanner.
After getting his graduate degree, Elliot will pursue PhD in Physics. However, he wants to give back to the University of Minnesota.?¡°I¡¯m hoping to become a professor at the University of Minnesota in order to also spread this joy and passion for physics with other people,¡± Elliott said.
The parents have applied for grants and scholarships for Elliot's doctorate but have been unsuccessful.?¡°You don¡¯t think you¡¯re going to have to pay for college for a 9-year-old, let alone grad school for a 13-year-old. So we weren¡¯t prepared for that part,¡± Michelle Tanner said. ¡°We¡¯re kind of scrambling trying to figure out his tuition.¡±
Such a remarkable boy.?
