While 2020 has been a real struggle, it has also brought out the good in people. There have been various instances of people stepping up to do good, and make little, but meaningful contributions.??
A 49-year-old veterinarian is doing his bit by walking around in the streets of the US state of California, and treating homeless peoples' pets for free.?
Kwane Stewart, has been taking on his new role with great spirit and dedication. An animal lover, Stewart grew up in New Mexico where he spent his childhood trying to rescue stray animals. This dream eventually led him to practice veterinary in California.?
Stewart, however, believes he needs to do a lot more for animals who have suddenly been tossed to the sidelines because of the financial crises caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Now he is becoming a saviour for the homeless peoples' animals.
While he treats them for free, animals who need vaccinations, medicine, or food, he pays for the costs out of his pocket. However, he often runs into animals with severe issues such as tooth decay or illnesses that need treatment at a veterinary hospital. For these cases, he has opened a GoFundMe page on the crowdfunding platform, to cover surgeries and invasive procedures which can cost thousands of dollars.
While solving the real problem of homelessness will still take time, the street vet Stewart, is ensuring that?the pets who have found a sanctuary in the homeless, are taken care of, and kept in good health.
