The month of August 2022 again is full of festivals and celebrations across the country. Many private and public sector banks across the country will remain closed next month due to additional bank holidays. Banks will be shut for 18 days in August 2022?Including second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
Banks will be closed on all public holidays with some regional holidays depending on the particular state. Regional holidays are decided by respective state governments.
The month of August observes 18 bank holidays and the first holiday starts from?Drukpa Tshe-zi?on August 1, and other holidays like Independence Day?on August 15 and?Janmashtami?on August 18 and August 19, are applicable to all banks in India except some states.

People will not face any problems in bank-related work as holidays are not frequent or at short intervals and ATMs, cash deposits, online banking, and?mobile banking will continue to function. These holidays may vary from state to state as holidays are determined keeping in view the local festivals.
According to RBI guidelines, banks are closed on Sundays as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, RBI has declared holidays on August 1,8,9,11,12,13,15,16,18,19,20,29,31. Apart from this, there are four Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays in the month.
According to the Reserve Bank's calendar, apart from the weekend, there are 12 bank holidays in August 2022. The central government has divided the holidays into three categories, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.?

Raksha Bandhan is an important festival of Hindus, which is celebrated in many parts of India and across the world where Hindus lived. The festival is celebrated between brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan has been celebrated between brothers and sisters for centuries. All the banks across the country remain closed on the second Saturday of the month and in Manipur on the occasion of Patriot's Day on 13 August 2022.
