The West Bengal Transport Corporation has collaborated with a heritage book store and launched a children's library on a boat. This initiative is the first of its kind, an official said.
The idea behind the boat library is that a person can read books as well as appreciate the beauty of Kolkata while cruising on the Hooghly river, the official added.

Children will have the chance to choose from a selection of 500 titles in English and Bengali on the Young Readers' Boat Library.?
"The boat library would take people on a three-hour-long trip," the official said.?
The trip will begin from Millenium Park, and the boat will then travel to Belur Math jetty and return, he said. He also said there will be three trips on all weekdays.?
The boat has a free Wi-Fi?facility and one ride on the boat would cost Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children.The library will also host activities like storytelling, dramatised readings, poetry sessions, book launches, and music among other things.

This is a great way to push children into developing a reading habit. With technology improving by the minute these days, reading has taken a backseat among younger students. This will provide them a chance to read as well as have a beautiful scenic view along with it.?
