A 23-year-old Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the United Kingdom recently revealed how she dealt with her high school bullies who applied to work for her successful company.?
Vicky Owens, the founder of Socially Speaking Media, detailed the incident in a Facebook video post. "That was a full circle moment," she said of delivering her high school bullies their just punishment. She revealed that she rejected their applications, adding that "what they put out" ensured they got "nowhere in life".
In the video, the 23-year-old explained that she put a job advertisement on LinkedIn earlier this year to recruit more staff for her social media organization. This is when she got applications from the three girls from her past.
"The company just started to get bigger and bigger so I put out a hiring post and three of the girls that were absolutely awful to me at high school applied for the job," Owens quipped.
The aspiring entrepreneur stated that while two of the bullies just did not "give her the time of day," one of them made her life a living nightmare. "The other girl was someone who flung yogurt all over my head in the canteen in year 10," she said.?
"Another time I was out with some of my friends in Nando's in year nine or year 10 and this girl walked past and flung ketchup across my face," she went on to say. Owens stated that she believed she was an easy target at the time since she was shy and tall, with "bushy, manly brows."?
The 23-year-old said her mental health suffered as a result of the bullying she experienced at school.
Her traumatic bouts were apparently aggravated by having to deal with her parents' divorce at the time, she added. The CEO thought it ironic that the "girl who was awful to me at school wanted to now work for me". "I thought it was extremely fascinating [that they applied]. I wasn't sure whether to respond to them [the job applications] or deny them," she stated.
In the end, the 23-year-old admitted she simply disregarded her bullies' applications. "I never went down to their [the bully's] level," she explained. "I'd just like to tell everyone to be kind. "The good you put out eventually comes back to you, even if it seems like it never will," she continued. Ownes also stated that she indirectly credits bullying for her achievement.?
"I continued to experience them [panic attacks], and they became so severe that I was unable to work or leave the house, leaving me without an income. "This is when I started my business," she explained. She also stated that her accomplishment demonstrates that people should not let their teenage years define them.
