Coronavirus scare has gripped the entire world. In India, there have been two new confirmed cases of infected people in Delhi?and one in Jaipur. Around the world, the number of infected people is nearing 1 lakh; more than 3000 people have been killed because of coronavirus.?
As the death tolls increases, scientists do not seem to be very close to a cure for the virus and according to some, it is just going to get worse.?Daily Mail reports that according to some scientists, coronavirus could become a ¡®regular,¡¯ seasonal infection that comes back every year.
However, as the number of cases in South Korea, Italy and Iran continue to increase, the spread of the infection is reportedly beginning to come under control in China.
There are chances that coronavirus may become a perennial illness like colds, chest infections and the flu.?These viral illnesses affect people the most every winter and cannot be completely cured as human and virus immunity change often.?So far, coronavirus has killed 3 oer cent of the population it has infected.?
¡°If you look at other members of the coronavirus family, that are respiratory viruses and we've known about them for the last 50 years or more, they're seasonal. They're just like the common cold, there's probably a few thousand people infected with them at the moment in England.
Whether Covid-19 will fit into that pattern or not, we will just have to wait and see but my guess is it will,¡± The Telegraph quoted Professor John Oxford, from Queen Mary University in London, as saying.?
Talking to Business Insider, Dr Amesh Adalja, a disease expert at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore said, ¡°This is going to be with us for some time. It's endemic in human populations and not going to go away without a vaccine.
Currently, the coronavirus is causing a self-sustaining outbreak. It means that it is being passed on without anyone coming into contact with the original source.?It is believed to have broken out at an animal market in Wuhan, China, and since then has continued to spread among people.
As the virus continues to spread, so does the misinformation about it. People making outrageous claims of how it can be cured can mislead people. In India, the UP chief minister, Yogi Adityanath said that coronavirus can be cured by Yoga. Similarly, a BJP MLA from Assam has gone on record to say that coronavirus can be treated with gau mutra (cow urine) and gobar (cow dung).?
It will be in everyone's best interest to not believe such claims and get checked if one notices any symptoms.
