A similar story from the United Kingdom is generating headlines, in which a daughter fulfilled her mother's odd final desire. Last Christmas Eve, a 93-year-old woman named Pauline Polhill passed away. She was originally from Evercreech, Somerset, England.?
According to accounts, she heard on the radio about the option of scattering ashes in the air using a drone and told her daughter that she would "really like" that.?
Beverley Charnley and her husband Richard coordinated the ash scattering ceremony with the support of Co-op Funeralcare's Aerial Ashes Service in Radstock to realise her mother's final desire. It was completed in their garden on April 13, three months after Pauline's death.
Beverly discussed the experience and her mother's "adventurous" nature in an interview. "She would have been so crossing she missed it, because we were all in the garden, we had the champagne, and the sky was clear," she explained.?
"I don't know what we expected, but it was so spectacular, and everybody said it was just the best thing they'd ever seen," she continued. Beverley continued, "The drone was controlled by an iPad, which would have made her mother happy." According to Richard, "she was always up for anything."?
"We were absolutely delighted to be able to assist Beverley in arranging such a special tribute to her mother," said Radstock Co-op funeral director, "we were absolutely delighted to be able to help Beverley in arranging such a special tribute to her mother."?
"Having heard all about the type of person Pauline was, and her incredible energy for life," he continued, "it seemed like the perfect fit to memorialise her in this way."?
Christopher Mace is the creator of the Aerial Ashes method of final rites. When he was in the forces, he was motivated to establish this business after dispersing the ashes of an ex-personnel in the sea.?
According to sources, Pauline Polhill died as a result of an undiagnosed malignancy that became unmanageable and spread to her lungs.
