Muslims across the world are celebrating the festival of Eid-ul-Adha, which is also known as Bakrid, Eid-al-Adha or Eid ul Zuha in Arabic is the ¡°festival of sacrifice¡± celebrated prominently amongst Muslims.
Eid ul Adha (Eid al-Adha or Bakrid) is a festival celebrated among Muslims all over the world in remembrance of the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim made out of his strong faith in Allah.
Ibrahim was asked by God to sacrifice his only son on Allah¡¯s wish and the former had agreed. Looking at his faith, God intervened and he was asked to sacrifice a lamb instead.
Hence, every year on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid ul Adha and is celebrated for three days. The celebration dates of Eid al-Adha is differ in different countries due to differences in geographical locations.

In India, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on June 29, 2023. Markazi Chand Committee of Lucknow announces the Eid-ul-Adha date as June 29, 2023, as Dhul Hijjah crescent moon was sighted on Monday evening ie June 19.
The festival of Eid-al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah as per the Islamic lunar calendar.

In Muslims, no festival celebrations begin without offering prayers to Allah on Bakrid, and therefore, the Salat al-Eid is offered to Allah on this day. Eid ul-Adha or Bakra Eid has great significance for Muslims. Thus, Bakrid prayers are also an extremely important part of festive celebrations. If you are offering the Bakrid prayer with the family, an adult male member must lead the prayer as an Imam.
Eidul-Adha Takbir
Once you have formed the congregation, follow this step-by-step guide to performing Eid ul-Adha salah at home.
- First and Foremost perform Ghusl, the ritual of taking a bath in an Islamic way.
- Then perform Wudhu, to performing salah.
- Recite Niyyat to perform salah.
- Then recite Takbiratul Ihram and ask dua from the Almighty.
- Then begin performing salah by giving seven takbir and reciting Surah Al Fatiha.
- Then recite another surah from the Holy Quran.
- Complete the first Rakhat and perform Rukhu by reciting Subhanna Rabbiya l-¡¯azim three times.
- Then stand and recite Sami¡¯ Allahu liman hamidah Rabbana walaka-l-hamd.
- Perform first Sujud Subh¨¡nna Rabbiya l-a¡¯l¨¡.
- Rest on your knees and recite Rabbighfirl¨© wa-rhamn¨© wa-jburn¨© wa-rfa'n¨© wa-rzuqn¨© wa-hdin¨© wa' afin¨© wa'fu 'ann¨©. Or just say Rabbighfirli.
- Then perform the second Sujood.
- In the second rakhat recite Surah Al Fatiha and another surah from the Holy Quran.
- Then perform Takbir five times.
- Post the sujood chant the following Tasyahhud,
- At-tahiyy¨¡tul lillahi was-?alaw¨¡tuth wa ?ayyib¨¡tu Assal¨¡mu ¡®alaika ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahmatull¨¡hi wa barak¨¡tuhu. Assal¨¡mu ¡®alain¨¡ wa ¡®al¨¡ ¡®ib¨¡dill¨¡hi?-?¨¡lih¨©n.
- Asyhadu an l¨¡ il¨¡ha illall¨¡h, wa asyhadu anna Muhammadar abduhu wa Rasuuluhu
- Allahumma ?alli 'ala Muhammadin, wa 'al¨¡ ¨¡li Muhammad, kam¨¡ ?allaita 'ala Ibrahima wa '¨¡li Ibr¨¡h¨©ma, innaka Ham¨©dun Maj¨©d. Allahumma b¨¡rik 'al¨¡ Muhammadin, wa 'al¨¡ ¨¡li Muhammad, kam¨¡ b¨¡rakta 'al¨¡ Ibr¨¡h¨©ma wa ¨¡li Ibr¨¡h¨©ma, innaka Ham¨©dun Maj¨©d.? ?
- Then recite R¨¤bbana Taqabbal Minna innaka antas Sameeaul Aleem.
Finally, end Eid ul-Adha 2023 prayers by reciting Assalamu alaykum wa-Rahmatullah on your right side and your left side as well.
End the prayers with a Salaam.
