The current Covid crisis has caused a lot of pain and devastation in India - people are losing their loved ones due to acute shortage of oxygen and even cremation grounds are unable to handle the plethora of corpses that are coming their way.
Simply put, the situation is bleak and we are losing hope by the minute.
However, there are glimpses of hope between all this devastation and the latest example of the same is?from Kolkata where a photograph of a 75-year-old woman hugging her PPE and mask-clad doctor after she recovers from COVID-19 is going viral on social media.?
The picture shows that the woman has tears in her eyes since she is speechless for her saviour who ensured that she recovered from the deadly virus.?
The photo was shared by a journalist named Pooja Mehta on Twitter with the caption,?"Can't thank these 'Gods' in hospitals enough."
The doctor was identified as Dr Abhishikta Mullick who works at the city's medical college and hospital.?
A user commented on the post, "Honestly gives one hope."
Another wrote, "They are here to protect us."
The healthcare workers of our country have selflessly placed themselves at risk since the pandemic attacked the world in 2020 and they continue to do so during the second wave which is unbelievably worse than the first one. There is shortage of medical facilities like hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, medicines etc. People are no longer just dying of COVID-19 but they are losing their lives due to the unavailability of crucial resources.?
For the doctors who are working endlessly to save Covid-affected patients, thank you for your service. Your names will go down in golden letters in history.
