The 96th Academy Awards, once again hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, are in full swing as Christopher Nolan's 2023 biopic 'Oppenheimer' enters the ceremony with an incredible 13 nominations.?
Despite the glitz and glamour, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk appears to be ignoring the event on social media. Over the weekend, Musk resorted to 'X', formerly Twitter, to air his frustrations about Hollywood's most lavish celebration.?
In one of his tweets, the 'X' boss compared receiving an Oscar to winning "the woke contest."
While the Cambridge Dictionary defines "woke" as "aware, especially of social problems such as racism and inequality," Musk has previously stated that "wokeness" aims to prohibit "comedy."?
In the same post, Musk added, "When an award is diluted, everyone knows, including those who received it, and it no longer commands respect."
Soon after, social media users began to taunt Musk in the comments, with one user joking, "You're just upset you'll never win one". Another person said, "Yet another thing you know nothing about, and that money can not buy."?
"You should buy the Oscars and make them terrible, probably cheaper than Twitter," quipped the third, while the fourth wondered, "Do you think if Oppenheimer wins it's because it's woke?"?
Recently, after the tweet went viral, Musk posted, "Guess I was wrong."
Meanwhile, the buzz surrounding contenders like as the dark 'Oppenheimer,' the terrifying 'Anatomy of a Fall,' and the colorful 'Barbie' finally peaked as the 2024 Oscars transformed top contenders' goals into sparkling riches.?
