A Reddit user reflected on his time at the EY Pune office, where he couldn't last for more than 2 months. Recounting his shirt stint at the workplace, the user shared points about what was problematic.?
The user writes in the post, "The work hours were gruelling and I was alone expected to handle the GST returns of a 9000cr + company. The owner literally shouted at partner and was about to cuss that you expect your single guy to handle our fucking 9000cr + company ? They keep themselves severely resource constrained to mint more money."
The user also highlighted in his post how off days are really off. If an employee wants to make any plans, he/she/they must inform the manager incase they are planning to call you for some work over the weekends. " One Saturday I worked straight from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm. I was informed this on Friday night," the user recalls.?
The user shared that employees boast about overworking in order to get a promotion and normalise it in the office, and writes, "people tend to outweigh one another by working long. They boast of working 14 hours a day. Are they in their right minds ? Who boasts of such imbalanced life with no family time ?"
The user calls bad-mouthing "the biggest frustration ever."?
The user shares, "Anytime a manager or senior from different team approaches you to assist in his work if he thinks your work is about to get over. You can¡¯t even say no as it then leads to immense bad-mouthing due to insane politics. It creates extreme demotivation as you already are working on your impossible deadline and had planned to reach home by 11:00 pm but alas, that plan is ruined at last moment."?
Lastly, the user advice people to not join any Big 4 at "any cost." The user had also worked with?KPMG previously and says it's not different there.?
People on the internet sided with the user, and congratulated the user on letting himself out of such toxic environment. Here's what people wrote.?
